Ampara Regional Office of Coconut Cultivation Board has been established for providing services to the Southern areas of Eastern Province. It provides services in 503 Grama Niladari Divisions belong to 20 Divisional Secretarial Divisions. It disseminates its services through 8 CDO offices of 8 CDO ranges situated in 31 Agrarian Service Divisions.
The regional office area spreads over 4,415 Km2 of total lands and agricultural lands occupied 151,024 Ha. The area under coconut lands are reported to be 20,330 acres cultivated by 40,000 no of coconut growers. The total no of coconut trees accounted to be 81,000.
Main Agro Ecological Zone of the area is Low Country Dry Zone (DL). The mean annual rain fall is 900 mm and the mean annual temperature is 30 °C.
